Transitioning My Company to a Christian Organization: A Journey Rooted in Faith and Values

As the Christmas season surrounds us with joy, hope, and the celebration of our Savior’s birth, I’m reminded of the significance of living out our faith in every aspect of life. When I first started Voom Creative, I envisioned it as a place where creativity and strategy would come together to help businesses increase profitability. Over the years, we’ve reached incredible milestones, partnering with clients locally, nationally, and globally to elevate their brands and marketing efforts. Yet, there was always a deeper purpose tugging at my heart. Transitioning our company to operate as a distinctly Christian organization wasn’t just a business decision—it was a calling, reflecting my faith and commitment to living out our values in every facet of our work.

A Journey Within a Journey

This transitional journey began about three years ago during another kind of journey—a girl’s trip to California with my two sisters. We flew into LAX to spend a few days with our Aunt Carol before the three of us took a road trip to Napa Valley. While in Los Angeles, we “aunt-napped” our fun-loving aunt, who happily let us take charge of her itinerary. Just like us, she’s always up for an adventure!

While unsuccessfully breaking out of an escape room and sharing meals together, we caught up on life, families, and careers. Aunt Carol—a retired family business owner—shared stories of her own work challenges and experiences. Like many business owners, she emphasized that the one constant challenge is people—and she didn’t mean that negatively. As a leader, success often hinges on building a cohesive team, leveraging each person’s unique skills and talents to work effectively as a group. The same holds true for clients—understanding their needs and delivering the best results requires deep connection and insight.

That conversation sparked something in me that had been simmering for a while: the need to build a unified team grounded in shared values and beliefs. I felt a strong urge to reevaluate what truly mattered to me. Being away from the office, surrounded by inspiring people and beautiful landscapes, gave me a fresh perspective. It offered the clarity I needed to start redefining our company’s values, grounding them in what has always centered me most: the Word of God.

Shaping a Business with Faith-Driven Values

I realized that I wanted Voom Creative to be more than a successful agency; I wanted it built on principles that resonate deeply with my beliefs. As a follower of Jesus, I am guided by values like honesty, humility, integrity, and accountability. It became clear to me that I wanted our work to reflect these principles transparently. So, I turned to the Bible for guidance, selecting words that would serve as a compass for Voom’s future. I’m grateful to have had my sisters—both accomplished leaders in their fields and fellow believers—provide immediate feedback on the values I was developing for my team.

Building a Culture Rooted in Faith

Returning to Minnesota, I felt confident in the decision to ground my company in faith-based values. I presented my team with a revised set of seven core values, each thoughtfully paired with a Bible reference and description to inspire and guide us in our work and our mission. These values are more than words; they define how we operate, interact, and glorify God through our efforts:

  • Accountability (Luke 6:31) We hold ourselves and each other accountable to promote ownership and confidence in our work and demonstrate transparency among our team.
  • Collaboration (1 Peter 4:10) We encourage collaboration and open communication as a way to foster growth and produce strategic, meaningful results.
  • Diligence (2 Peter 1:5) We approach our work with diligence by solving problems and completing the job on time and to the best of our ability.
  • Humility (James 4:6) We balance taking pride in our work as a product of our skills and talent while humbly accepting feedback and critique with an attitude of appreciation.
  • Integrity (2 Corinthians 8:21) We lead with integrity by being honest, respectful, and gracious in all interactions and allowing these characteristics to guide our decision-making.
  • Vision (Matthew 5:41) We think ahead, anticipate change, and thrive in exploring new ideas and concepts so we can learn, grow, and create.
  • Zeal (Colossians 3:23) We pursue all projects with purpose, passion, and zeal; inspire enthusiasm at each milestone; and show support by recognizing and celebrating successes.

Redefining How We Serve Clients

It’s been three years since that memorable girls’ trip, and we’ve officially established Voom as a decidedly Christian agency dedicated to serving Christian and purpose-driven brands. What began as a simple values update has grown into a full rebrand and a renewed focus on partnering with like-minded clients.

For us, achieving great results means more than delivering outcomes—it’s about doing so in a way that reflects our faith-driven values. We devote ourselves to leading with empathy, honesty, and a genuine commitment to listening and serving others.

Our mission, “To help our clients thrive by building effective brands through strategic marketing and design excellence,” is now a commitment to compassion, diligence, and faithfulness. Our goal is to create impact that transcends metrics, resonating on a human and spiritual level.

Living Out Faith and Embracing Blessings

Reflecting on this journey, I’m reminded that business and life are deeply intertwined, revealing who we are and what we cherish most. As we celebrate the birth of Christ, the Light of the world, we recommit ourselves to being a light for others—through our values, our work, and our relationships. Our goal as a Christ-led business is to embody His love and truth while achieving meaningful results for our clients.

If this season has stirred in you a desire to align your business more closely with your faith or explore working with a purpose-driven organization, I’d love to connect. Together, let’s build something meaningful—not just for this life, but for the next.

Merry Christmas!
