March 5 is Employee Appreciation Day and just one of the 365 days each year that I truly value and appreciate my teammates. I feel so blessed to have such an amazing team who brings out the best in each other and in me, and I am privileged to be their manager.
Here are a few things I appreciate about each staff member and traits any employer would be fortunate enough to possess within their company.
Andrea Falle, Senior Graphic Designer:
Andrea holds the longest-standing employee award having worked at Voom nearly since its inception. Andrea is a methodical and talented designer who thinks through all aspects of her designs and the audiences they will impact. In addition, she also manages Voom’s social channels where she keeps content, imagery and designs fresh and engaging.
Why I appreciate her: Andrea welcomes feedback and thrives in collaborative environments where work can be shared and critiqued. She continuously strives for the best possible outcome and contributes to projects outside of her design role. Andrea ensures structure and organization in all she does. She has been pivotal in developing processes essential to both our business and the productive growth of our team. Andrea is kind, clever, funny and positive, and sees only opportunities in everything around her.
What clients say: Clients love her clean designs and are proud of the award-winning work she has produced for their businesses.
Colin Hall, Senior Graphic-Multimedia Designer:
Colin is one of the newest additions to the team and has one year under his belt as a Voomie. He is a versatile and talented designer with a great blend of digital, tech and design skills. This broad skillset allows him to comfortably design across print, web and animated mediums. Colin created our new company website and designs our monthly newsletter, Take V.
Why I appreciate him: Colin thinks through all he creates and provides rationale that ties back to the brand or project strategy. He is tenacious and troubleshoots problems until they are solved. Colin stays abreast of new technologies and trends that impact the design, development and multimedia spheres relevant to the work we are doing and beyond. Colin is witty, adventurous and goofy; he’s the kind of guy who will do something out of the ordinary just to get a reaction and make people laugh.
What clients say: Clients love his creativity, thoughtful designs and the award-winning work he has produced on their behalf.
Paj Ann Herr, Senior Account Manager:
Paj Ann is a seasoned professional with 16 years of experience in marketing and account management. She welcomes clients into Voom and maintains continuous contact with them throughout each project. Paj Ann’s marketing and strategy background coupled with her experience across numerous industries make her the resident “go to” Voomie when questions arise.
Why I appreciate her: Paj Ann is a natural at making good decisions quickly and her intuition is always spot on. She understands people, business and marketing and continuously keeps up on marketing trends and statistics. She’s always eager to learn and she is great at breaking down complex information and presenting it to others. Paj Ann is warm and genuine, and has a quiet, smart wit that will catch you off guard if you’re not paying close attention.
What clients say: Clients appreciate Paj Ann’s responsiveness and thorough communication style.
Adam McGath, Business Development Manager:
Adam is the most recent addition to the Voom team and he brings deep sales experience to the company. His approachable personality greets prospects with ideas and solutions that will help businesses succeed. Adam possesses a strong business acumen and sets proven sales objectives that lead to growth and longevity.
Why I appreciate him: Adam is a true conversationalist and has the unique ability to connect with almost anyone on any topic, ask the right questions and keep them engaged. He keeps up with current events and economic influences that help turn business conversations into opportunities. Adam’s boisterous presence fills a room while his storytelling and antics keep people entertained and laughing.
What clients say: Clients like that Adam shows integrity, is genuine and doesn’t come off as “salesy.”
Melanie Olson, Marketing Coordinator:
Melanie’s role at Voom revolves around organization and maintaining order. She is essential in keeping all business transactions, client data and reports up-to-date, organized and categorized. In addition, Melanie creates media plans for our clients and maintains relationships with media representatives across the country.
Why I appreciate her: Melanie thrives in situations where there’s chaos, clutter and a large task at hand. She buckles down, sorts through piles of information and gets the job done while attacking it with attention to detail and a smile. Melanie accepts new tasks cheerfully while fulfilling them quickly and precisely to keep the business and client requests moving efficiently. Melanie has the most easy-going personality—she loves to joke around, laugh with others and at herself.
What clients say: Clients appreciate the level of detail and data that Melanie captures in reports and other materials.
Ben Trudeau, Operations & Project Manager:
Ben manages all project workflow and maintains project statuses and timelines to ensure deadlines are met. He is extremely detail and process oriented and keeps the entire team on task. In addition, Ben plays an integral role in the operations side of the business and helps with budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting. He also manages our monthly newsletter, Take V, working closely with Colin.
Why I appreciate him: Ben is strategic in all he does and he anticipates future needs on both the business side and the client side. He continuously keeps the team in sync and maintains a pace of staying a step or two ahead of things at all times. Ben is business minded, a great communicator, always prepared, and diligent in keeping meticulous records. As the youngest Voomie, Ben gets some slack from his coworkers, but throws it back with his sharp wit and dry sense of humor.
What clients say: Clients like Ben’s attention to detail and the perspective he brings to each project.
Our tight knit and talented team at Voom is a direct result of our success and it’s because of these individuals that Employee Appreciation Day has meaning. Thank you, team, for being so awesome!
I also can’t write an employee appreciation article without giving a shout out to our contracting partners. We utilize their skills, talent and knowledge on a regular basis and appreciate working with each and every one of them. Thank you to Marcie Greenwaldt (writer/editor), Jodi Lindstrom (graphic designer), Robert Moore (graphic designer), and Candee Wolf (marketer and writer).
